Why Get Your Windows Tinted?

People get window tint for all sorts of reasons. Sure, it makes your car look sharper, but the practical benefits are what really sell it. Professional window tint is an investment in your comfort and your car’s interior.

  • Heat Rejection: Our quality film blocks a significant amount of solar energy, keeping your car's interior cooler on hot Ottawa summer days. Your air conditioning won't have to work so hard.
  • Glare Reduction: Tint reduces the blinding glare from direct sun, snow, or other headlights, making driving safer and more comfortable on your eyes.
  • UV Ray Blocking: Our window film blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays. This helps keep your car’s interior from fading, cracking, and deteriorating over time. It’s like sunscreen for your dashboard and seats.
  • Enhanced Privacy: Keep your personal belongings out of sight from prying eyes. Window tint adds a layer of privacy for you, your passengers, and anything you leave in your car.

The JREK Autocare Tinting Process

Applying window tint is an art form that requires patience and a steady hand. One spec of dust or a tiny air bubble can ruin the whole look. That's why our process is so thorough.

Window Preparation

We start by deep cleaning the inside and outside of the glass. This is the most important step. We make sure every bit of dirt, dust, and residue is gone.

Window Film
Film Shaping

Each piece of film is custom cut and heat shaped on the outside of your vehicle's window. This ensures it perfectly conforms to the exact curve of your glass for a seamless fit.

Application

In our clean, controlled bay, we apply the film to the inside of the window using a special slip solution. We carefully squeegee out all the solution and any air, creating a flawless bond between the film and the glass.

Final Touches and Curing

We trim the edges for a perfect finish and do a final cleaning. The film will take a few days to fully cure. We’ll give you simple instructions on what to expect and how to care for your new tint during this time.

Addressing Common Tint Concerns

Lots of people have questions or worries about window tint, usually because they’ve seen a bad tint job driving around town. You know the one, with bubbles everywhere and purple, peeling film. That’s not what we do here.

  • The "Will it turn purple?" question: Cheap, low quality films will turn purple and fail over time due to UV degradation. We don't use those. We use premium, color stable film that is designed to last and keep their original shade for years.
  • The "What about bubbles and peeling?" fear: Bubbles, peeling, and dust under the film are signs of a poor installation. Our certified technicians work in a controlled environment and use a meticulous process to ensure a perfect, clean application. We stand behind our work.
  • The "Is it even legal?" concern: Yes, it is, but there are rules. In Ontario, there are specific regulations about how dark your tint can be, especially on the front windows. We are experts on these laws and will help you choose a film that looks great and keeps you 100% compliant with the law, so you don't have to worry about it.

Frequently Asked Questions about Window Tint

  • How long does window tint last?

A professionally installed, high quality window film should last for the life of your vehicle. We use premium films that are backed by a manufacturer's warranty against fading, peeling, and bubbling.

  • How long does it take to tint car windows?

The process usually takes between 2 to 4 hours, depending on the type of vehicle and the number of windows being tinted. A two door coupe will be faster than a full size SUV.

  • Can I roll my windows down right after they are tinted?

No. You’ll need to wait 3 to 5 days before rolling down your windows. This gives the film time to fully cure and adhere to the glass. We’ll put little stickers on your window switches to remind you. Don't worry, we won't tell anyone if you forget.

  • How do I clean my tinted windows?

It’s easy. Just use an ammonia free glass cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth. Avoid using anything abrasive, as it could scratch the film.

  • What is the legal tint limit in Ontario?

In Ontario, you are not permitted to have any aftermarket tint on your front windshield. For the driver and front passenger windows, the film must allow at least 30% of light to pass through. There are no restrictions on the rear passenger and back windows. We will guide you through all the legal options.
